Wilton Excelle Elite 12-Cup Mini Muffin Pan Review

Wilton Excelle Elite 12-Cup Mini Muffin Pan
Average Reviews:

This product is rated the top muffin pan by America's Test Kitchen and Cooksillustrated.com. It's a subscription site, so I can't link it, so I quote them here:
"We like darker, nonstick muffin tins for both muffins and cupcakes. They're better at conducting heat than shiny uncoated tins and so are better at browning, yielding baked goods with more flavor. Our favorite is the Wilton Ultra-Bake, in part because of its reasonable weight and in part because of a generous 2-inch lip that provides a convenient handle. Wilton Ultra-Bake turned out ideal cupcakes and muffins and boasts the thoughtful (and rare) addition of handles."
I find their equipment reviews to be very reliable, and I use them to guide my purchases of new items and replacement equipment.

These seemed like a great idea, but the execution is terrible. The cups aren't uniform in size and they make your cupcakes look awful! Lots of indents in the sides of the cake. I want more options for unbleached or generally green baking stuff that is of better quality.
Unimpressive.

Wilton Silicone Pastel Standard Baking Cups, 12 Count Review

Wilton Silicone Pastel Standard Baking Cups, 12 Count
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Last year, I reviewed Miu's Silicone Cupcake Baking Cups and rated those as a five star product. I stand by that review, but feel that Wilton's Silicone Baking Cups are equally as good. As previously stated, I bake fat-free breakfast muffins on a regular basis; they stick to paper cupcake papers so that one loses half a muffin to the paper. My daughter wanted to start using silicone baking cups for her breakfast muffins, but we were unable to find Miu again.
I found the Wilton baking cups to be thicker and even more sturdy than Miu; they are not nearly as flexible. There is little chance of the baking cups spreading from the weight of cupcake or muffin batter. This is particularly helpful if one must sit the cups on a cookie sheet to bake or if one is not using a deep silicone pan to hold the cups and batter for baking. The fill line is particularly nice when baking cupcakes as it allows one to put an equal amount of batter in each cup so that baking time does not vary within a batch of cupcakes/muffins.
There are several ways to address the other reviewers' issues with these silicone baking cups. I freeze my breakfast muffins and have found that if I allow my muffins to sit out for about 5 minutes and then carefully peel off the silicone baking cup, there is little to no baked good sticking to the cup. If some does stick, I simply fill the cup with water and allow it to sit for awhile before hand washing the cup. The second way is to put the muffin cups into your baking pan and then spray all of the cups with non-stick spray. Be sure to do this over your sink to avoid the mess of overspray. Then bake as directed by your recipe, allow the muffins to cool for 5 minutes and then turn out of the pan. The muffin cups will come off easily without damaging the baked goods.
As for accidentally throwing out these silicone cups, I remove them just before serving cupcakes or muffins to guests. If you freeze the baked goods and remove the cups before serving, you will need to allow enough time for the product to thaw and come to room temperature. Since there are little to no crumbs sticking to the cup, the treat is not damaged by doing this and my silicone baking cups are safe from being accidentally discarded.
We were able to find Wilton Baking Cups at the big home store where they sold for $7.99 for 12; by using a $5 off $15 purchase coupon, and stacking the 10% off coupon on one item, my daughter was able to reduce her total cost for two sets to around $10.

This muffin pan is completely awesome. Say goodbye to the drudgery of scrubbing muffin tins. Nothing sticks. Knock off the chunks with a finger and into the dishwasher, or even just a soapy dishpan (in case a little grease lingers). Still looks new after a year of constant use.

I just received this item, and the shells are significantly smaller than I imagined they would be. Really cute, but sort of a midsized shell. a mini-muffin size? Too deep/thick for a variation on a classic madeleine. still really cute.

Anolon Advanced Nonstick Bakeware 12-Cup Muffin and Cupcake Pan Review

Anolon Advanced Nonstick Bakeware 12-Cup Muffin and Cupcake Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I picked one of these pans up at my local TJ Maxx--- they only had one, or I would have gotten a couple. I am waiting for Amazon to get them back in stock and I will purchase another one for sure, they are HEAVY, will not warp, will not rust, and the silicone grips make it really easy to get a full pan in and out of the oven. They are nice and heavy and things bake evenly in them...but take note that since heavier pans hold more heat, cakes and muffins don't take as long to bake as they do in the old flimsy pans. Muffins and popovers with no liners turn out beautifully--one time I even forgot to spray them and my corn muffins still came out without sticking. This bakeware lives up to the Analon name.

Practically indestructable, and can go through the dishwasher, if you don't mind the aluminum changing color. These don't burn the muffins like the coated ones do, on the bottom. Even if I turned the oven down, I still fought the coated ones. These are the best.

West Bend 78822 Egg and Muffin Toaster Stainless Steel Review

West Bend 78822 Egg and Muffin Toaster Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really like this toaster. I've not had it long but I'm very impressed with the quality. It's not cheapy looking or gimmicky.
It operates very well as just a toaster - for bagels, muffins, and bread. The slots are wide and long - big bread slices fit with no problem. You can also heat up a sausage patty but I have not done this yet. I like the Cancel button which pops the toast up and cancels any egg cooking as well.
I was looking at a similar egg-sausage-toaster unit but there were several reviews that voiced concern about the quality of the non-stick pan for the egg. Several customers complained that it peeled almost immediately. I took a leap of faith with this one since there were no reviews for it at the time, and I have not been disappointed.
The egg dish says to use a non-stick spray even though it appears to be non-stick already. I have been using margarine and it works great. The quality of the non-stick dish looks good to me - I'm not expecting it to peel or degrade unless someone starts using a knife or fork on it!
My appliances are white but I could not find this in white. But the stainless steel is beautiful and I don't mind that it doesn't match. The design itself is cool looking.
I recommend this product! A poached egg and dry toast nearly every day - and it's easy!

Wilton Silicone Ultra-flex Silicone Bakeware Set Cake Pan, Loaf Pan, Muffin Pan Review

Wilton Silicone Ultra-flex Silicone Bakeware Set Cake Pan, Loaf Pan, Muffin Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought a burgundy-red version of this set in a home & garden specialty store when I was last in Washington, D.C. in just February of this year. I have gotten into cooking bread, so the loaf pan has been used almost weekly since its purchase.
The first thing I noticed was the blackening of the silicone pan edges. Can't get that off, but I supposed that is to be expected with regular baking. The more critical issue, however, is that it seems to have been the signal of bigger trouble. First the right lip fell away and now the left. And it gave up holding its upright loaf shape well before that (presumably because "ultra-flex" is code for "much too thin"). I don't mind the bowed bread (we eat it anyway), but when I came across a used silicone bread pan from another brand and compared the results, I couldn't help but find this one inferior.
I cannot recommend this item for regular use.

USA Pans 20 Cup Mini-Muffin Pan, Aluminized Steel with Americoat Review

USA Pans 20 Cup Mini-Muffin Pan, Aluminized Steel with Americoat
Average Reviews:

I am absolutely in love with all of my USA pans. They bake beautifully, are non-stick which makes them easy to keep clean with just a little soap and a wipe, stack nicely and even look good. The textured metal seems to help with even baking. This one is a real winner. I just made a pan of blueberry muffins that are sized to keep inches off the waist. Browned nicely and moist inside. I am giving away all my metal pans, including my cast iron (well maybe not ALL of it). These USA pans are going to last a life time. The pan is worth every penny I paid for it.

Casabella Mini Muffin Cups Review

Casabella Mini Muffin Cups
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought these silicone reusable baking/muffin cups thinking, wow, great for the environment since I won't have to use paper baking cups anymore. They bake fine, but keep in the mind the following MAJOR con -- they are a PAIN PAIN PAIN to clean! Especially the ridges/folds where the baked food gets into. Seriously, I was wasting all kinds of water and time, using scrubber, even toothpick and toothbrush to try to get these spaces clean! And yes, of course, I greased these cups prior to baking, I used the traditional butter and flour-dusting, as well as "Pam" type cooking sprays, and STILL the resultant mess. Don't waste your money! They work in theory, but NOT in practice! I will probably use these as jello molds, since jello is easier to wash of than cake batter.

Wilton Excelle Elite 12-Cup Muffin Pan Review

Wilton Excelle Elite 12-Cup Muffin Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The pan works extremely well: bakes and browns evenly. The thing is so non-stick that pam beads up and hardly does anything. I haven't brought myself not to use pam, but given the beading, I doubt it does much good. The muffins do stick slightly in the corners unless you let them cool for about 10 minutes in the pan, then they slide right out. The whole thing is non-stick, so cleaning is a breeze and baked on spillage slides right off.
The only problem is that with the handles, which are tremendously helpful in keeping your oven mitt out of the batter or baked good, the pan is so long that it does not fit front to back in my oven, which is a full size range. I thus need to turn it sideways and cannot put two pans on one shelf. Not a major negative, but something to consider.
Not that these things are likely to rust, but an easy way to take care of them is to hand wash them and put them back into the still-warm oven to dry. Works like a charm.

Nordic Ware Cast-Aluminum Nonstick Muffin Pan, Sweetheart Rose Review

Nordic Ware Cast-Aluminum Nonstick Muffin Pan, Sweetheart Rose
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own the same brand in heart-shaped form, and I've been very pleased with the product. The muffins always turn out so well and unsticking them from the pan is effortless (which is more than I can say about several other brand tins out there). After baking with this pan I realize how nice it is not to be concerned with effectively removing the baked good and knowing that the product will look beautiful is also great.
The only downsides are the cost, heaviness, and the fact they're not very space-efficient-- only two of these can fit in a conventional oven and one better use both hands to remove the pan. Though $30 is a lot of money for something that bakes so few goods, it is well worth it based on its reliability and durability. As a person who baked 3 times a week, I got my money's worth.

Enjoy a memorable finale to luncheons, dinner parties, and other casual or formal gatherings with this delightful muffin pan, which measures 12 by 12 by 2 inches. Great for Mother's Day, Easter, Valentine's Day, and other holidays and everyday occasions, the versatile pan can be used to create miniature tea cakes or petits fours, shape exquisite gelatin favors, bake individual brownies, and concoct hundreds of other delicious treats. The pan provides a dozen 1/2-cup molds in lovely rosebud shapes, complete with intricate Bundt styling. Crafted of durable cast aluminum for fast, even heating, its nonstick coating maintains each cake's intricate detail and design while ensuring uniform browning and easy removal. For best results, brush with solid vegetable shortening and dust with flour when filling with raw batters or doughs. Made in the USA, the oven-safe muffin pan should not be used with metal utensils, scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners, and it cleans up easily by hand with warm, soapy water.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic 6-Cup Nonstick Jumbo Muffin Pan Review

Cuisinart Chef's Classic 6-Cup Nonstick Jumbo Muffin Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been very disappointed lately with the non-stick coating on muffin pans. I have tried many over the last year (including Kitchen-aid, Bakers Secret, Wilton and others), and the muffins start sticking badly after about 15 uses. I am very careful in how I care for them, hand wash, no metal utensils, etc. But with the other pans I have tried the initial coating which is shiny seems to disappear quickly and then the muffins start sticking. I make muffins about four times a week and I have been using this pan for eight weeks and it is still working well. The product description says that this pan is coated inside and out with xylan. But it seems to me that the top surface of the pan has a different coating than the bottom. The top is silver and the bottom is gray. The bottom has developed scratches in it already, but I really don't care as long as the top (and inside the cups) stays intact, which it has. The only thing I do to care for it is to hand wash it fairly soon after it has cooled. And so far, the non-stick properties are performing well. By the way, this pan makes the large "Texas" size muffins.
Here is an update: after five months the silver coating is peeling. I am very disappointed. I use it about three times a week and I am very careful in cleaning and handling. It was good while it lasted, but I don't consider 5 months long enough. Shouldn't it last at least a year?!

We bought this to replace your run-of-the-mill metal muffin tin. My husband makes mini egg quiches in these and doesn't use papers, so they get really messy. Since I hate hand-washing the thing, it goes in the dishwasher and ends up rusting. Enter the silicone muffin tray and my life is so much better. Since they are non-stick there is barely any mess to start with, plus it's dishwasher safe...and I am very happy.
