(More customer reviews)I have only just received this tamper today and have not used it. However, the picture of this on Amazon shows it in the process of tamping dough in a tart tin, thus concealing the fact that the large end, like the visible smaller end, is only 3/8" thick. Being this thin prevents one from kinda rolling the tamper diagonally to squish the sides of the dough to the sides of the tart tin or muffin panFox Run Wooden Tart Tamper with Different Diameter Ends.
I wish I had purchased the one from ChefGadget. It's base appears to be between 1/2" and 3/4" thick. The only reason I didn't was because Prime wasn't offered on it which made it quite a bit more expensive. Had I been able to compare the bottoms (i.e. the larger end's thickness of this and the Chefgadget) I wouldn't have wasted my money on the Fox Run Tamper. I realize Amazon didn't create the picture, but used the one provided by the manufacturer. Thank you, Amazon, for your great return policy.
